The Falls of Lora Hotel, located near Oban, is a Victorian villa that has been transformed into a stylish hotel on the west coast of Scotland. It offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including nearby Mull and Lismore islands, with 30 individually designed rooms and an award-winning restaurant serving local cuisine and Scottish whiskies, providing guests with a unique and memorable experience. The hotel's proximity to the tidal race of the Falls of Lora, a popular tourist attraction, allows guests to witness waves up to 3 meters high from the comfort of their lounge or room. Additionally, the hotel's location provides easy access to explore the local area, including Oban town and the Scottish Highlands.
As the number of electric vehicles among their guests rises, the hotel has recognized the growing demand for EV charging solutions. To cater to their guests' needs, the hotel requires a smart EV charging solution that will allow guests to charge their vehicles quickly and efficiently while also enabling the hotel to monitor electricity usage, set preferential tariffs for guests, and generate an additional revenue stream to offset the costs of electricity.
The Connekt team and owner Michael worked closely together to come up with a solution to provide 7.4 kW overnight charging facilities for hotel guests and a dual 22 kW charger not only for guests but also for the public visiting Oban.
Since all of Connekt's charging points are listed on Zap Map, EV drivers in the area can easily find the hotel's charging points and stop at the hotel's restaurant to grab a bite to eat while charging their car. Drivers have the option to quickly pay via the QR codes on the charging points or join the Get Connekted app to gain preferential charging rates.

Upon successful installation, the Connekt chargers are integrated with our Get Connekted app. This works alongside our advanced cloud-based operating platform which fully automates 24/7 service delivery, payment processing and energy cost reduction allowing bespoke tariffs to be set which can be used to either monetise the charging facilities to create a new revenue stream or cover the cost of installation.
Our app has been designed to make the entire charging experience as simple as possible. Drivers simply sign up to our Get Connekted app, input their login and payment details and are ready to go. Drivers can search for their nearest charging point to their current location as well as managing their own digital wallet to prepay or top up as when desired.
As part of our commercial partnership with the club, all Ayr United season ticket holders can benefit from discounted charging rates at the stadium facilities via our Get Connekted app.
